MUSIGA Cautions Musicians

Written By XclusiveGh on 17/11/2011 | 20:18:00

Following the arrest of Kwaw Kese aka Abodam by the Madina Police for committing a traffic offence, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has called on Ghanaian musicians to be law abiding citizens and also desist from acts that would undermine their progress as well the progress of the music industry.

The union, which is not happy about the behaviour of certain musicians lately, underscored the need for musicians to be law-abiding irrespective of their status, reiterating that once they went against the laws, the security agency would go after them.
It also advised musicians to be law-abiding citizens since a large number of Ghanaians saw them as role models.

A source close to the union told BEATWAVES, “Since we are role models in society, we need to do the right thing so that those who see us as their role models will emulate us”.

Reacting to Kwaw Kese’s (Abodam) arrest by the Madina Police, the source said nobody, including Abodam, was above the law. He added that the police should investigate the case since there were perceptions that musicians were drunkards and drug addicts.

The source said the musicians who were trying to make it in the music business today had to be passionate about every aspect of their career in order to be successful. It is on record that this year certain musicians including Becca and Mzbel were arrested for traffic offences.
