After being in the spotlight for some very controversial reasons, one of Ghana’s blossoming female artistes Raquel is asking to be ‘set free’ as she releases her third single titled “Set Me Free”.
Whereas many in the Ghanaian music industry think the nude picture brouhaha about the songstress would kill her career, she has shown absolute strength in handling the situation and has given her official position on what happened.
The song which is expected to feature on her upcoming album is a mixture of genres and cultures because everyone who listens to the song, from the North of the country to the South, would find a connection to the song.
Management of Raquel- Black Star SR Entertainment- have hinted that the single would have first time air play on some radio stations across the country for her many fans today.
They also disclosed that the song has no bearing whatsoever on the recent happenings in the media adding that the song was recorded over a year ago.
Raquel’s Manager, Stephen Creppy indicated that “this song was recorded a year ago by ‘The Genius selection’.
I remember the beat maker woke up one morning from bed, sat behind his machines and delivered this beat, even at that time the beat maker did not have Raquel in mind, so there is no way the title of the song has something to do with recent incidents about her in the media”.
Stephen also noted that “Set Me free’ was chosen to be the official third single because, we [Black Star SR entertainment] are aware that Ghanaians want to dance, so after ‘sweetioo’ which featured Sarkodie, we decided to release one that would keep them jamming.
The song was first played at Chicken N Beer inside ‘Rockstones’s Office’ and the response from the crowd was overwhelmingly positive.
Fans have therefore been asked to get ready for the International-mix and the Club-mix of the new one as it will both be released this February 2012 but for now it’s just another one from Raquel called “Set me free”.
Listen to it and set your minds free from all unnecessary worries.
